Billie Breslin has traveled far from her California home to take a job at Delicious, the most iconic food magazine in New York and, thus, the world. When the publication is suddenly shut down, the colorful staff, who have become an extended family for Billie, must pick up their lives and move on. Not Billie, though. The storyline felt noticeably contrived to me, but it was still fun. Pacing was slow at first and picked up as Billie delves into her quest and simultaneously learns more about herself. The cast of characters has a lot of personality and kept the story afloat when the plot was dragging. It's a sweet story.

I was disappointed in the audio CD version of this book, as the reader's voice sounded very juvenile, and after only a short duration, her lack of moderation in expression and intonation quickly became monotonous. I couldn't make it through the first disc.

I really enjoy this author. This one was a novel instead of a biographical story. Although I like her writing and wit a lot, this book seemed to be a product of several independent stories. I read it from start to finish because she's delightful to read. However, it was disjointed in story line. I enjoyed the characters, settings and the ending. I just thought it changed directions too much.

A good story line but so much more could have been made out of this book.
The writing was flowery.
The moment Mr Complainer was introduced I had an awful feeling this was another 50 Shades of Grey, not much better just less sex.

I thought I had the book figured out about half-way through, but I was wrong! A good read; however, I suggest that if you love food as much as I do, NOT to listen to this audiobook before and after work on your commute, because you will be salivating each and every day! :-) But an interesting storyline and an overall good book.

Beautifully read book by one of my favourite authors. Reichl's "Tender at the Bone" was both hilarious and deeply moving, and she has segued into fiction with great success. One cannot stop listening (or reading as the case may be) and one wants to visit NYC asap.
