This is a must read whether you are a student of international studies or just plain wondering what is really happening in Eastern Europe and its skirmishes with Russia. To say that the book's propositions and posits about the intentions of Putin and Russia as being "insightful" is an understatement at the very least. " In page 110 it reads :...Ukraine holds a prominent place in Russian policy because of its historic role...serve key transit point for Russia's energy exports to Europe. On the next page , the author continues with " a strong sense of nationalism continues throughout Ukraine, sympathetic attitudes toward the idea of reintegration are not absent." And this was published at least a year before the events unfolding right now in the Crimea and greater Ukraine. Agent provocateurs, strong Russian forces gathered at the borders. While eyes are turned to the unrest in Ukraine, covert Russian forces are maybe even now working through their machinations at government and military levels, leapfrogging Ukraine, unto Belarus . The author did spoke of that country as being Russia's closet eco-politcal ally. This is on page 109.
