Habits of the House
As the Season of 1899 comes to an end, the world is poised on the brink of profound, irrevocable change. The Earl of Dilberne is facing serious financial concerns. The ripple effects spread to everyone in the household. Lord Robert can see no financial relief to an already mortgaged estate, and, though the Season is over, his thoughts turn to securing a suitable wife and dowry for his son. The arrival on the London scene of Minnie, a beautiful Chicago heiress, seems the answer to their prayers.

I didn't care for the reader--her voice struck me as strident and grating. I may try reading the book instead of listening to it.

For me, no comparison to Downton Abbey, which has held my interest because it covers so much of the changes in society worldwide. This bothered me with a lot of chitchat by one woman, whose voice I quickly tired of hearing. Sort of became interesting with info on P or Wales at the time. Might try reading Weldon instead.

Katherine Kellgren's performance in this audio version is stellar: she has the bored aristo tone down. If you like Downton Abbey be sure to listen to this!
