My favorite album, "Revolver" is a diverse collection of magnificent songs, ranging from string quartets to proto-heavy metal to children’s songs to R&B, all written, played and sung to the highest standard. It remains, thirty-two years after its release, the finest rock album ever made, IMO. McCartney's ballads in particular are sublime, "For No One", "Here, There, and Everywhere", and "Eleanor Rigby" showing his talents at their absolute peak. Of John's songs, "Tomorrow Never Knows" set the blueprint for psychedlia, and "And Your Bird Can Sing" for power pop. And George came into his own as a songwriter on this album.

Revolver has always been my favorite Beatles album. I am in good company most record reviewers even pick it as the No. 1 Rock Album of All Time. Simple put, you can't go wrong with a Revolver CD, especially for a party.

Although, "Sgt. Pepper's ..." took first place in 'Rolling Stone' and one or two other popular U.S. publications, the 'Revolver' album generally gets a higher ranking in a wider survey, being a #1 or #2 favourite in seven (mainly British) magazines. See the GerryD List for more album rankings

I haven't listened to this album much yet, but I predict it to be good.(Right now as I type this, I am actually listening to The Beatles). I <3 The Beatles!!!!

@KerrAvon - actually, Kerr, there was one more tour after this album was recorded. A World Tour, as a matter of fact, which saw the Beatles visiting countries like Germany, Philippines, Japan & the U.S.A. throughout the summer of 1966 . I believe REVOLVER came out in early August, 66' but they wrapped up recording it in June. They would have to wait till 1967's SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND for that album to carry the distinction of being the first to be recorded by them AFTER they gave up touring. And yes, I agree with you - a classic !

I don't know why Sgt Peppers got all this hype, this one is better.

The correct title is "Revolver".
