I thought the characters were somewhat one dimensional

I liked that this book was not predictable but I found the writing a bit uneven. I haven't read Gone Girl so I can't compare the writing. The structure of going back and forth from before the "incident" to afterwards worked quite well.

Outstanding book. I found it hard to put this book down. Amazing and suspenseful. I love how it jumps from past to present, keeps you guessing from the very beginning . I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed!

A book hard to put down... Just finished this last night and it took a while to wrap my head around the ending. Actually re-read the last 5 or so pages (on my Kindle) to make sure what I read was what I read!

Excellent debut novel for Mary Kubica ! I loved how it bounced between present and past so that you knew what happened but not how it happened. Very suspenseful and I couldn't put it down!

Along the lines of "Gone Girl."

Mia is kidnapped. Owen is the kidnapper.

Mia's dad is a Judge. Mia's older sister is her dad's favorite. Mia's mom never really knew how to show true love to her.

Owen's mom is sick. Owen takes care of her.

In the end, is this all true??????????
