Exquisite, headstrong, and independent, India vows to make Thorn marriageable in just three weeks. But neither Thorn nor India anticipate the forbidden passion that explodes between them. Eloisa James writes intelligent, witty romance that is clever enough to appeal to even some non-romance fans, and her latest novel continues in that vein. While this is technically a continuation of her Desperate Duchesses series, as it deals with the child of some characters from that series, it feels more like the beginning of a new series, given the gap in time between that series and this one. Thorn and India, the protagonists, are both intelligent and tempestuous, and readers will love watching their battle of wits and wills before they reach their inevitable happy ending. This, as with all of James' books, is a must-read for fans of historical romance, and I'd suggest it as well to those unfamiliar with the genre looking for a good place to start dipping their toes in.
