Knit your Own Zoo
Knitting patterns for 24 wild animals. There is something here for everyone, with instructions for knitting spots, stripes, fur, scales, trunks, wings and beaks! The animals are surprisingly easy to make. It will only take a few evenings to create yourself an exotic pet or reproduce your favorite species. These knitted animals in miniature are much easier to look after than the real things - they don't need feeding, they won't make a mess and they take up hardly any room!

This series of books are fun and I am amazed at the creativity of the authors. There are both classic zoo animals as well as some lesser known ones which creates a nice variety. The skill level varies so all knitters can find something to knit with pleasure.

This book is not for beginner knitters. I have created 2 of the patterns so far and find them very creative and reasonably realistic shapes. You will likely need pipe cleaners.
