its worth watching just like most of the comic movies, better than spider man better than batman. but thats not hard to do in my book.

Not as good as the original.

Four stars for what it is a pure visual and kinetic costume adventure. No pretensions and no disappointments. I normally enjoy comic superhero movies and all I basically ask is--don't screw it up, and they didn't.

A fun, no-brainer, action-adventure type of movie. Storyline was unimpressive, but the visual effects make up for it.

Great (CGI) effects, and chock full of action,.. its almost too entertaining ! The backstory is unoriginal, and the comic book plot and unconvinced acting (except for Loki ) can distract and detract,.. so forget thinking and enjoy brainlessly. (6-30-14: 262)

Very well done movie. A pleasure to watch. I would recommend this movie for all to see. No fast forwarding on this one. No falling asleep on this DVD!!!!!

Visually impressive. Story lacks real emotion. The thing I really didn't like is the love story. Typical Hollywood BS (love at first sight, utter devotion). I guess that is fine but they barely no each other. I think that sets expectations for real life too high and unrealistic.

This was laborious to watch near the end, the "fighting" sequence was ill choreographed. I'm glad I watched Thor and Thor: The Dark World out of sequence because Thor was much more entertaining and thoughtful in terms of action. It really hurts a film when it's final battle scene lacks passion and strategy.

This was an awesome movie! Not a lot of violence, but I would not recommend this for younger children. It was very amazing!!!!

I mean but 1127 holds on this thing. I might as well save up my lunch money and buy it- ..I had to buy all the rest-.to be continued-
..fast forward three months and I only had it for a week and just returned it...now will have to wait another three months before I can see it again.I had to watch it numerous times in pieces because there is so much going on. . Theres so much to this plot Id like it as a comic book. I agree with most people that the JANE character when it came to the reunion with THOR didn't do it for me. Maybe because that man is so incredibly handsome that they had to down play it or in real life two marriages would've been wrecked. The special effects are fantastic…always a fan. I'm glad I didn't see this in the theater as theres so much to absorb that I would've missed a lot plus I have a tendency to sit in the second row and look straight up. Id buy it.

Rest of Review is in Comments Section: *******Tinkering, Thinking, Thoughts: (1) Fandral, a red headed, comic relief guy, he had seemed to me to be a lot like the man garbed in black, the hero, from “Princess Bride” movie, this because, he having great sword swashbuckling, fencing skills… and he having this dapper-dan, gung-ho, devenaire demeanor to boot! (2) About time they, the creators, made Loki to look like a champion chevalier (although, at most, it may have been but in temporary guise, a makeshift illusion)! (3) Clothing: I noticed, and maybe I’m wrong here, a sort of trend among the cape colors worn. And as if we were in some Star Trek Enterprise episode, those who were wearing yellow were generally going to die… while those donning red garments, like Thor and/or Odin, lived! Once again, I could be woefully wrong! (4)Some light, laughing, moments of levity came from when Thor and Dark Elf Lord Dude fervently fought! (5) Places of Interest: (The Nine Realms of the World are approaching an inevitable violent, and potentially problematic planetary catastrophe)… And these are the three places of interest within this, Thor's second movie: Svartilheim: the dark elves kingdom… Asgard: the cosmic kingdom, and pantheon place, pertaining to Valhalla, and its Norse champion race… Earth: humans mostly inhabit this place and refer to planet they live on as with this listed, nominal name… (6) I generally felt well immersed into the Asgardian world as that had been where most of film physically remained during movies' daunting exploration. And so, while when discussing misanthropy and how I feel about watching and hearing humans in movies, I am most merry where when I am most seemingly far away from what others would call home! And so Thor mostly met that criterion of mine. So… Rating for Thor as this being his second movie, I rate, a rating of: 5.0/5.0; Xandor Who... *********Characters and Character Summaries: Relatable or not relatable? Of course they’re relatable… aren’t we as well, a giant galactic, cosmic colossal family?! Thor: Is Odin’s official son; he is Lord Over the Thunderous Cloudy, Heaven Skies; he wields and handles his hammer, the magnificent mallet, Mjoliner… Loki: is Lord of Illusions and is Master Magician Trickster; has nefarious intentions at times; he is highly capable in transforming simple parlor tricks from his fantasy into other people’s realities; he is Odin’s unofficial son or is Odin’s official stepson; he is noted as being a trickster; he is pissed at his father, Odin, and his brother, Thor, for what he believes is lack of respect from them due to him… Jane Foster: Thor’s Earthbound girlfriend, who becomes the unlikely wielder of the cosmic, Asgardian, special air, it being called Aether… Odin: Husband to Frig and Father to Loki and Thor; he is also known as the All Father; he is King of Asgard… Malekith: he is the dark elf warlord in this movie, and he is trying, yet again, to harbinger in an end of the world scenario as like when he had tried from many millenniums ago… Heimdell: an oculant, seer-like, oracle-like, specialist, who vigilantly keeps eye over the rainbow bridge and eye over all of the Nine Realms… Frig(ga): Thor’s wife, and it is she, who cares for both her sons, Thor and Loki… Bohr: Odin’s Father and is one who fought the dark elves from eons and epochs ago, and in an enchiridion book, it says that he, Bohr, had seen the dark elves defeated and destroyed… Darcy: Jane’s friend; she wears a dark red cap and is openly plucky… Lady Sif: an Asgardian, guardian, female warrior; she is as a thorn in Thor’s bare butt behind, this because she pesters him about his venturing off to Earth to where he would visit his girlfriend… **********Tags Summary: Norse mythology, Norse deities, super heroes, warriors, weapon wielding warriors. -X; Who

After the aftermath of the New York invasion in The Avengers, Thor now fights to restore balance and order to the Nine Realms. But an ancient evil known as the Dark Elves, led by the ruthless Malekith seeks to plunge the universe into eternal darkness. Now Thor must form an uneasy alliance with his villainous brother Loki and reunite with Jane Foster as he embarks on his most dangerous journey yet, which will force him to sacrifice everything he loves.

Other: If one were wanting to explore more of the Norse mythic and cryptic world of Asgard, one may want check-out historian and bard, Snorri Sturluson, from his supposed 12th century A.D. land and time ward. In my mind at moment, I believe it was he, Snorri, who was depicted and credited for being the one or as the one who started the classic Icelandic tale of old! I could be wrong. -X; Who

Odin: One son who doesn't want the throne, another who wanted it too much. Is this to be my legacy?

Thor: Loki died with honour. I shall try to live the same. Let THAT be your legacy.

Odin: I can not give you my blessing, nor can I wish you good luck. Even if I could, it could only come from my heart. Go.

[Thor offers up his hammer]

Odin: It is yours, if you are worthy enough to wield it.

Thor: I shall try to be. Thank you.

[leaves]

Loki: [appears from Odin's guise] No... thank YOU.

“Frig(ga)”, a Norwegian, mythical name that could etymologically mean same as word that means when two individuals have intercourse with another, or to mean to rub or to mean to make friction against something, is used as an expression by Odin in the movie when seemingly to show concern for his wife being stabbed… but could also be interpreted to be as an interjection statement to show vexing distress!

[The alleged crazy physicist, who was committed to mental ward, says]: “There’s nothing more reassuring than realizing the rest of the world is more crazy than you are.” *This said right after a flock of birds disappeared from sky’s view and then reappeared out from earth ground… this event happening after the doctor was released from mental word. Now I can concur with the good doctor statement as I having had the luxury, have stayed several times at such mental wards. And so after he, the supposed, crazy, physicist says his statement, he relinquishes his drugs that the ward had “nicely” “given” him. …I have found that drug pushers and their drug enforcing henchmen, which could be family members or one’s supposed friends, are the biggest bullies and biggest proponents of defilement in people! This my personal, poignant, message to all those whom think they are doing others and the world a favor by their bully actions!*
