Entertaining. I'm not much of a Sci-Fi fan, but felt this was decent. I liked the special effects. The story was common, but well played out by the cast and Vin Diesel. Good for a first time viewing. Watching the movie multiple times will tell if it really was good, but I didn't like it enough to borrow it more than once. However, if it comes up on cable, I would watch it again.

Riddick is placed in such a menacing environment this time, it is almost ridiculous. I suppose he's always been up against incredible obstacles and his super-cool response provides his charm; but, I was a little bored this time.

Instead of arriving on planet Furya, Riddick was left on [not Furya] to fend for himself amongst native predators like water demons and packs of [prime-evil] jackals. Super animation, action packed, decent sci-fi story and fast paced.

weak and empty. I couldn't bear it, so I did not finish it.

I like the new monsters crawling around killing people. Other than that, do I have to tell you that I fell asleep 5 times half-way by watching this movie 5 times in order to completely finish the whole thing? Probably it is too comic in style, not a film kind of story. That put me off.

This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

Not bad. Diesel is a one trick pony...but this is his trick and he is pretty good at it. Nifty CGI/FX throughout; weapons, mean doggies, some kinda nasty scorpion/eel beasties. Silly comic book sci fi stuff that's fun if you are in the mood.

With a physique like a bouncer, a name like an energy drink and a voice that alternates between growling and monotonic, Vin Diesel could only be an action star and while he foolishly abandoned the "XXX" series, he stuck with "Fast and the Furious" and the "Riddick" movies." The first, "Pitch Black," was a visceral, stripped down genre movie, but then things got bloated and silly with "Chronicles of Riddick." This newest entry tries to get back to the original, but doesn't quite succeed. It opens with some nonsensical stuff where Riddick is an emperor (or something), then gets marooned on a planet that is a cross between Tatooine and Mars from "John Carter." He tames a wild dog and fights beasties and mercenaries. The acting is generally bad (although it's nice to see "Katee "Starbuck" Sackoff), the dialogue terrible and the plot full of wholes. Put that aside and you have a pretty good sci-fi action movie with some cool fx.

From IMDb (lots of quotes published):
Riddick: Don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead. Guess when it first happens the day you were born, you're gonna lose count. So this, this ain't nothing new.

Riddick: There are bad days, and then there are legendary bad days. This was shaping up to be one of those. Whole damn planet wanted a piece of me. Can't stay in the open. Can't risk another attack. It's always the punch you don't see coming that puts you down. But why didn't I see it? But why didn't I see it? Of course they were gonna try and kill me. Death is what they do for a living. So the question ain't "What happened?" The question is "What happened to me?"
