Loved the pace of the story and the way it all came to a full circle though the ending felt rushed. My only complaint waz rushed ending and whole crew not being together... ( where was Fabian?) we got a glimpse of all the characters we fell in love over the years. the action sequences were formidable and Kat and Bones love at full power. I hope is not the end of this world even if sadly its the end of this series. I really want to read Ian's story, and Tate's, ( which will give us a future glimpse of K & B). hoping the author does not give up on such interesting characters. The series, novella and character stories are terrific also. Sad to say good by to characters I have come to love over the last few years.

I think the author so desperately wants to make the protagonist seem NOT a monster that her values and behaviours are boringly pedestrian. This includes loyalty to treacherous family and squeamishness over tough choices. I liked the original character a lot - flawed and all - but I lost respect for her the series - she bored me. And, we really did not need another character named "Cat". The other predictable thing was how all the male vampires are possessive and take exception to even a wrong glance at their beloved. That's more unnatural than vampirism. Author is trying too hard to prove their love for "quirky" human women. And, I thought Cathy excelled in making unintelligent tactical decisions. These endangered everyone, especially after she discovered her fanatical motherhood. Boring. The kid is not, though. Hopefully author will tone down the machismo and middle class morality for her next books - she'd be so much to read if she did that.

To read a Jeanine Frost book is to kiss the cover once you finish reading it because you loved the book so much, sad its the last in the series.

This review contains spoilers!

Up from the Grave had all the elements that made the previous books of the series spectacular yet a lot of the stuff regarding Cat and Bones gave me a feeling of being recycled and made me 'been there, done that.' That is not to say that the book was bad. Cat and Bones can do no wrong and and the fight at the Med Center (or whatever it was) was crazy fun to read! There's a few surprises that one might not expect which was good because there's an actual plot (hurray!). The ending was bittersweet in the sense that now our dynamic duo is all grown up and off to do adult, responsible things and they've got each other and Katie and I suppose for them, that's enough. However, I can't help but feel that they've essentially exiled themselves off to Australia/New Zealand until Katie dies...Somehow this wasn't the future I envisioned for Cat and Bones but I don't dislike it either. I don't know if Frost intentionally didn't expand and incorporate Katie's mind reading ability into the story because it would've been fun to read Katie actually helping out the gang but I can see why it was left for the readers to imagine their own versions of HEA. Overall, the Night Huntress Series was incredibly funny, and hot to read and it brought back my love for vampires and all things supernatural.
