Same old designs, except this time (gasp!) she used stitches that were reversible. Big deal!

Good enough to borrow, but not for purchase. There's nothing new!

A great technique to learn. I would only recommend this book for advanced knitters, although intermediate knitters who are ready to progress and can sort out complicated instructions might enjoy it too.
I suggest starting with one of the simpler patterns, and using contrasting colours for the two sides. Then you soon learn by looking what stitch sequence you need for each row. If the colours are too close (I started with two close shades of blue) it is easy to become lost.
