Admittedly, the title of the book and the book's cover were unappealing to me, but the book kept showing up on recommended book lists. Since I needed a book for a long weekend trip, I grabbed this audiobook off the shelves and immediately became involved with all the characters. Because I only had a one week check-out, I would listen to the book and forgo everything else. If you're a sucker for romance and some bull riding stories thrown in, you'll enjoy the story of Luke and Sophia. If you've been married a while, then you'll relate to Ira and Ruth. As with most romance novels, the ending has a nice neat bow tied to it. To romance fans, I recommend this book.

This has a similar feel to "The Notebook" and I really enjoyed it.

Part of it is a typical Sparks novel, but there is a second story line which is not typical at all. I agree with kesha1123 Ira's narrative could have been shorter, but overall I enjoyed the audiobook.

Amaze-balls. Love the interwoven connectedness the novel eventually reaches. I kept trying to anticipate the connection between Ira/Ruth and Luke/Sophia. With that in mind, I did feel the storyline went 50 interactions longer than it needed too in Ira's case. Overall, best Sparks read thus far.

Thankfully, I listened to the audiobook, otherwise if I had read the book, I most likely would have quit reading after half of it. The narrators were great, which was the only reason I was able to finish it. It really seemed to drag on and on. A nice story line, but the switch from one couple to the next was so lengthy that I forgot where it left off each time. A big fan of Sparks, but his typical and predictable endings no longer make eager for the next book.
