Storm Front
In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she is tailing a man who has smuggled out an extraordinary relic, a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon. Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop. She's not laughing. As it turns out, there are very bad men chasing the relic, and they don't care who is in the way or what they have to do to get it. Maybe Virgil should start praying. Problems mount when teams of murderous bad guys believe Virgil and the woman cop are getting in their way of claiming the relic for themselves.

Not bad but definitely not one of Sandford's best. Fortunately, the main character's development is so well done that it helps with most shortcomings in the plot

I thoroughly enjoyed Storm Front as I have all the other "Virgil Flowres" books. Fast paced, witty and well written.

This author is off of my "to read" list. While the i was intrigued by the books description I found it very disappointing.

Spot on everyone: I suspect the co-author (his wife?) was instrumental in the development of some of the female characters and plot lines in come sort of "tandem" writing effort. It failed dismally. The Flowers character deserves better.

All prolific mystery writers are allowed one "stinker" which disappoints even their best fans.
This is a real dud from a terrific writer.

By now it's a formula and, though there is the occasional funny line, I have largely moved on from these. Flowers is much more ineresting than Davenport at this point.

A light, fun diversion, but far from one of Sandford's best.
