Outstanding novel. Captivating writing, and characters to care about. Jo Jo Moyes is now a favorite of mine.

I really enjoyed the way the author combined the past and the present in this book, one minute you are reading about WWI and just as you are getting into it, the author switches to the present, at first I was ticked off, because I was so caught up in the past, but it all fit in nicely at the end.

This is an excellent historical fiction account of struggles and hardship in WWI in France (Part 1) interwoven with the struggles of a contemporary woman who has experienced a great loss (Part 2). The common thread is a painting from WWI that is very special to both women. I liked the author's book "Me Before You", but I enjoyed this book much more.

the story is divided into 2 era : the first www and contemporary . I like her narration and description of the old time , I feel like I'm in the story. the ending is surprising. nice alternative to kate Morton.

This book is two books in one. The first half tells the story of Sophie and takes place in France during WWI while the second half tells the story of Liv and takes place in the present day. Though separated by time, these two woman are connected by a painting. This is a heartbreaking, emotional, and engaging book about love and loss. I loved it!

Stupendously good! Over the top genius writing to intertwine two amazing stories into one epic tale that is thoroughly engaging. I was pleasantly surprised by the somewhat predictable yet completely well crafted plot lines. So, so, so good.

This is a very enjoyable read. It kept me reading right to the end, as I found the book difficult to put down. The History of WWI and locations held my interest.

Here is another very enjoyable story by the author of Me Before You. One storyline takes place during WWI and another takes place in current time. The two stories are connected by a famous painting and by two women who are desperate to hang onto what is most precious to them. I would recommend this book to those that love a good story about human struggle and challenge.
