Not my favorite book in the series but still a good read.

I didn't love Kaleb's story as much as I expected I would - and I think that may have to do with how much we learned about him over the previous 11 novels.

However, this is still a fantastic entry into the Psy-Changeling series, and a wonderful book about forgiveness, redemption, shared history, love and memory.

Book 12 of Psy-Changeling series, preceded by Tangle of Need and followed by Shield of Winter. Story of Kaleb Krychek, the formal Councilor of Psy, who is a double cardinal able to control the net - a seemingly cold man trained by the sociopath Enrique - and Sahara, his only interest, a psy with a special gift who has been stolen from him and kept imprisoned for the last few years. This book is a bit of a switch as it is entirely based on Kaleb's and Sahara's story, with very little interaction of the changelings.

So obsessed over this book and the confirmation of so many secrets (and the redemptive love story), I bought the audiobook and have since listened to it twice. I thought Kiss of Snow was fantastic, but Nalini Singh upped it with this one!

Wow, Nalini Singh really outdid herself with this one. It was written using such a different voice, and from such a different starting point that you completely believe this guy was not raised normally. Plus, having all the final secrets (that really, I suspected) confirmed was lovely too.

I decided the day this book came out to look it over at a bookstore. I found it and a few others I was interested in. I sat down, opened Heart of Obsidian, looked up and it was three and a half hours later and I'd finished the book.

I can't remember the last time I got so caught up in a story.

I'm #1 on the hold list - I can't wait!
