Add a CommentA very engaging movie!!! i liked it!!!
Don't let what you know or think you know about this novel put you off seeing this movie. I initially didn't want to watch this movie because I assumed it would be some religious propaganda in the guise of a survival tale. It's really not. This story won't "make you believe in god" unless you already do. That's kind of the point: pick the story you like best. Pick the bits and pieces that work for you. That's what Pi did as a child discovering religion and that's what's demanded of the reporter character and the viewers of this movie. Very beautiful CGI work.
Wow, I wasn't interested in seeing this film. My husband was so I thought I'd read while he watched it. Needless to say, it was great! Very thoughtful and unique.
Being with a Bengal in a lifeboat does have its challenges but where there is a will there is a way. This was beautifully done. I enjoyed it. The ending leaves room for discussion.
Life of Pi is a truly fantastic movie. If you have read the book you will be happy with what the movie turned out to be. Although some details are missing, most of the story is captured in the movie. Firstly, the visual effects are beautiful, most notably when the lifeboat is in the ocean. The different animals really come to life and are vibrant especially in Blu-Ray. Director Ang Lee gave the movie enough in the visual department as well as in the script. Also, the acting in this movie is very well done. Because not much can be said on a lifeboat with a Tiger, the emotion that the Pi Patel must show is crucial. The movie also opens eyes on the idea of the “real” story or the “better” story, which is up to the viewer to decide at the end. Life of Pi is a winner not only because of the jaw dropping visuals, but also because of the intense acting and the all around good story. I would definitely recommend this to someone who either has or hasn’t read the book.
Before I watched this: Honestly I hated the book I didn't even give it a star. But I'm renting and watching it because my English teacher says its better then the book. Ok lets see if this is true... After I watched: Here is what I thought of the film: It was better then the movie. I still don't love this story but I liked it better as a film.
i toatly want to watch this moive oppps you are stupid
read the book first
Truly outstanding. The messages of this story are powerful. The visual and sound effects are amazing. And the CG portrayal of the animals as well as many portions of the set show a new level of achievement. After watching this DVD, I am convinced it deserved "Best Picture" at the 2013 Oscars. At least Ang Lee won for best director, Mychael Dannaand won for best original musical score (a Torontonian who studied with Glenn Gould), plus best achievement in both cinematography as well as visual effects. This movie speaks to everyone, no matter your age, gender or nationality. A true work of art.
I found this was an over-rated movie. If people are looking for a meaning to life, it takes more than one film to give them an answer.
