The Time of My Life
Dear Lucy Silchester, You have an appointment for Monday 27th July 2011. Yours sincerely, Life. Lucy Silchester has been invited along a few times to this appointment, but she keeps brushing the gold embossed envelope under the shag pile carpet. She has taken her eye off the ball and has busied herself with work (a job she does not love), helping out friends, fixing her car, feeding her cat, seeing her family and devoting her time to their life dramas. But Lucy is about to find out that this is one appointment that she cannot miss--and she cannot escape it either. A woman who has devoted herself to her friends, her cat, her family, and a job she doesn't love is forced to examine the choices she has made when life literally shows up on her doorstep demanding that she makes changes.

Quite enjoyed this book. Was a little hard to get into at the beginning because Lucy's life is depicted as a real person and was hard to wrap my head around that. Also Ahern would go a couple of paragraphs describing something and then say "I lied"..THAT was really annoying as she did this a few times through the book and as the reader is building a mental picture of a person or of an event, she halts it by saying "I lied" and then you have to scrap that image in your head and start again. That was quite frustrating and almost caused me to put the book down altogether. However I'm glad I kept going, because the storyline was an interesting one, and in my opinion its only about 3 chapters at the start where its a little confusing, and then I caught myself giggling a little here and there and enjoying the flow. All in all a refreshing storyline and an interesting read. You may find yourself falling in love with life as you read this book :) I did!

Great read, well written humorous book. The main character Lucy is a frustrating likeable mess, you cheer for her to clean up her life, with help from her life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I think it may be my favourite Ahern novel.

This book was amazing!
The childish aspect added to the everyday life of a no-nonsense adult character made it all the more enjoyable, and it was just a fantastic read. Anyone reading this, read the book! I guarantee you will love it!

An absolutely wonderful book, I could not put it down. Lucy was very relatable while all the while being sufficiently aggravating. Another worthwile read from Cecelia Ahern, looking forward to what she comes up with next.
