Add a CommentI really liked this book. Yes, it's very different from the usual Lisa Kleypas book - a lot of magic in this one. But I'm a fan of JR Ward and Lara Adrian so I'm used to romance and fantasy mixing to make a good story. I was surprised at how much action there was, considering it takes place in a quiet town.
I'm a Lisa Kleypas fan but this book was a big disappointment. It's on the bottom of my LK booklist. Justine's a successful businesswoman who's a witch in denial unless it suits her. She casts spells willy nilly without thinking of the consequences and in some scenes she reacts with childish trantrums. She a dolt. Jason's flat - I guess that's why he's soul-less. He manipulates and is controlling (what's worse is that she lets him!). The parts about wicca, japanese bondage and the ending was good but the main characters didn't work. If you want a 50 Shades of Grey book, you might like this. It's the first LK book that I wanted to put down before getting to the end.
This book was just OK. I liked the magical realism of the previous books in this series, but this book which had more magic & less realism was somewhat lacking. We get Justine's backstory, and lots of sex scenes, but most of the characters just feel underdeveloped.
