This is a great beginners book. You do start of with a few exercises carving materials easier than wood. But then you progress to carving small wooden animals. This is probably one of the best books out there for someone interested in woodcarving.

One would assume that "Tiny Whittling" would apply to wood. No, in this book you carve cheese and vegetables.
