Wonderful acting by Streep and Jones. If you are over 50 years old or have parents over 50 years old, then maybe this film is for you. Into all long-term marriages boring repetitiveness and resentments accumulate causing the marriage to become a burden rather than a gift. The film shows the process of one partner wanting something more from a 30 year marriage and seeking help from a marriage counselor. The counselor helps the couple to make the big decision of breaking up or developing breakthroughs to rekindle their love.

not a movie for youngsters, much truth and most of it not happy. Steep and Jones show how good they are as actors and seem effortless in their roles. All the tension of a failed relationship that still has hope of survival.

Fantastic Movie. I have not watched a film this good for ages. Meryl Streep was Wonderful and Tommy Lee Jones was very good also. If you have been married for over 30 years or in a relationship for that long then this is the movie for you to watch.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. While maintaining its sense of humor, “Hope Springs” takes a serious look at a couple with marital problems. The movie has a fantastic cast.

Boring. Embarrassing to watch these fine actors trapped in so petty and trivial a script. Do not waste your time - there was a reason you never saw this in a theatre.

Review title: Keeping Your Hope. A wonderful storyline about how one spouse wants to improve the communication and intimacy of the marriage is the main focus of this DVD. And the protagonists are rather comical at times. This storyline and the main characters offer one "reality" of how some marriages turn out after many years, yet it also offers hope that a positive change can occur with a little willingness of the spouses to make their marriage better and more satisfying for both. "Hopes Springs" is a real eye-opener about how a marriage can become as well as how to make changes if you are flexible and not rigid and frigid. *Good DVD to promote marriage counseling. **WARNING: this is probably a DVD you would not want to share with young people under 18 years of age.

BORING!!!!! Even those of us( in similar situations as the couple here) do not want to see this on screen! I could not watch the whole movie. I did not like Streep in that mousy role. She is better than that. I had higher expectations for this movie and was dissapointed.

"I hate golf. I do. I think it's boring. And watching people talk about it; that's even worse. It's like being married to ESPN or something. And when you eat ranch chips, your breath smells."
