This is a 2012 American superhero film directed by Marc Webb, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man.
It is the fourth theatrical Spider-Man film produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment.
The film tells the story of Peter Parker, a teenager from New York City who becomes Spider-Man after being bitten by a genetically altered spider.
Parker must stop Dr. Curt Connors as a mutated Lizard from spreading a mutation serum to the city's human population.
Although the visual effects are superb, the idea of a mutated lizard is too absurd to believe.
The idea of a spider-man is also too far-fetched to believe, but it would be more understandable and acceptable compared to Dr. Curt Connors who turns into a mutated giant lizard, which is utterly foolish and ridiculous beyond suspension of disbelief.

Best version of Spider-man I've seen. Best Peter Parker too. Also loved Amazing Spider-man 2!

Another sad case of rerunitus. As others say, "poor special effects, uninteresting villain" etc.
Even past all that it stinks because half the fun of spiderman is the contrast between hopeless loser secret identity and Spiderman. This actor is literally just too cute for the job.
Strictly for 12 year olds.

Poor casting, poor special effects, uninteresting villain... And half the movie is retelling Peter Parker's origin which was done much better (and more concise) in Spider-man 1. I get that they wanted a reboot, but it wasn't fun or energetic... And the cartoonish look to the film is baffling to me. How can special effects from a decade earlier look far superior? And Emma Stone is still in high school? Hollywood needs to cast actors that look like they are teenagers in high school. Kids in high school don't look 30.

I enjoyed this cartoon DVD. It is too violent for children to watch.

OK for a reboot of Spider-Man. Decent storyline on the introduction of the Lizard (Dr. Connors). I was not convinced on how Peter Parker acquired his spider powers and Gwen, played by Emma Stone, was so awful. Beyond the bad acting, the movie was fair... and what's with the Spider outfit ???...

The first of the rebooted versions of Spiderman, this time with Andrew Garfield taking over from Tobey Mc Guire as the wall crawling superhero from Stan Lee and Steve Ditko at Marvel Comics. I wasnt sure about Rhys I Fan's role of Dr. Curtis Connors at first, however I loved the Lizard character. It didnt look like it did in the comics, but maybe that's why films are a separate medium to allow for small inconsistencies. Emma Stone makes for a lovely Gwen Stacy, Peter's girlfriend. My main issue is Garfield's Peter Parker, and why I preferred Tobey's, who was more true to how Parker was in the comics. Again film is a different medium, and is all left to director's interpretation. The origin story is revisited with a different viewpoint, and the movie offers plenty of action. I did feel Martin Sheen and Sally Field were miscast as Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and didnt see them in the same light I did Cliff Robertson and Rosemary Harris. Film was missing a strong acting precense of a WIlliem Dafoe. For it's mild flaws, this one is still great.

I thought this movie was great. I really liked Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. The next one is gonna be awesome.

Peter Parker (getting home late, acting strangely): "I'm so sorry... I kept you guys up... I'm insensitive. I'm irresponsible. I'm hungry." (opens fridge and chows meatloaf) Aunt May: "Drinking?" Uncle Ben: "I don't think so." Peter Parker: "This is your meatloaf! ...This beats all other meatloafs!" Aunt May: "Something is very wrong." Uncle Ben: "Yeah. Nobody likes your meatloaf."
