More character and less bombast than the previous trilogy, and that's a good thing. Andrew Garfield, of THE SOCIAL NETWORK fame, is a great actor and this role clearly spoke to him. He does exactly what you'd expect would happen when a mild-mannered teen with dreams and ambition finds himself thrust into a position of super-power; at first, you mess around and experiment with your gift, then you learn the repercussions and refocus your energy into something more substantial. The villain was intriguing and well acted; there was a decent motivation and I preferred this battle over the menaces from the third emo-tastic film and maybe -- maybe -- even Doc Oc in the second. And, of course, Emma Stone, Sally Field, and Martin Sheen were great; Stone really has personality to spare and Sally and Marty are consistently excellent. I'd definitely recommend this remake.

This was entertaining. I'm a fan of Andrew Garfield's and I like him as Spider Man. He did a good job. I like Emma Stone and am a fan of Sally Field's too. Interesting to see that they switched Gwen to be the first love and I guess Mary Jane will come in the next one. Curious to see where they take the story in the next installment.

Wasn't a very good Spiderman movie. I like Emma Stone, but really didn't enjoy this movie. It was so long and felt like it dragged on forever - I was very bored watching this. The special effects were not as impressive as I thought they might be either. And, while I thought the guy who played Peter Parker did a good job for the mood that this movie was going for, I think that Toby McGuire was awesome and it was just far too early to do a reboot.

Wow!? How can anyone here say "awesome", "great movie", "better than Toby McGuire"!? Lots of detail changed to keep the newer generation focused? "Big name" out of work talent NOT fully utilized enough. The kid playing spiderman is not terrific and given a poor script with bad acting direction, wow! Poor and not as utilized "special effects" as the prior Spiderman and this villan is low key pathetic in the comics so who picked this one? WHY was this film produced not too long after the other spiderman!?

Exceeded my expectations, although it was a bit too long, but even so they kept it moving forward at an easy pace, right through the many cliches as well as the action. The Spidey fx were nice, and the Lizard looked good too. Now that the origin story is over, hopefully the films will improve.

The kid playing Spider-Man is terrific. I actually like him better than McGuire. Better action, better "spidey" moves and ALOT of big name stars make this the #1 Spider-Man movie to date and I hope there are more. Bring in the Sinister Six or even Carnage.Worth the wait! Oh and Stan Lees cameo.....AWESOME!

The amazing Spider man like Bradly Cool

I liked this Spiderman. He seems more true to the comic book. Do miss Tobey though as well.

Peter Parker (getting home late, acting strangely): "I'm so sorry... I kept you guys up... I'm insensitive. I'm irresponsible. I'm hungry." (opens fridge and chows meatloaf) Aunt May: "Drinking?" Uncle Ben: "I don't think so." Peter Parker: "This is your meatloaf! ...This beats all other meatloafs!" Aunt May: "Something is very wrong." Uncle Ben: "Yeah. Nobody likes your meatloaf."
