If you knew the world would end in 21 days, how would you spend your last days on earth? Maybe you should get to know your neighbors, they could come in handy during the end of the world.

Surprisingly poignant--I am very pleased I took the time to see this movie. It was not what I expected.

Funny, sweet and sad movie.

Jan 16, 2014, I've had this movie checked out for quite a while, and I kept passing it over for others on my list. Well tonight was the night for it to get watched, and as I had had a big day, I fell asleep after the first 10 min. Woke up about an hour later, and watched the end of the movie, and liked it so much, I started it over to watch from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, it's not soooo great that I would normally watch it twice, but it was good enough to spend an evening of just chillin' with. I just liked the characters, (I'm not a big Steve Carrel fan, that would be my son, but I thought he played this part really well,) and the ending was lovely too. Oh, I just scrolled down, and read the other comments. I see there is a common theme here, people not really "Steve C" fans, but liking him in this one! One more thing.....the music in this film was a great flashback for me to my youth. (I'm 55) Loved it, that was a great touch, and probably the main reason I watched the 2nd half two times.

This was one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. I see the heart and the romance was interesting, but I came away from the movie barely having smiled, and like I said, totally depressed.

Sweet movie with a lot of heart. Definitely a chick flick rather than an action packed adventure. A lot more depth than I expected. I finally found a Steve Carell movie I liked. Surprise!!

Oddly sweet, for a story about the end of the world. OK, for the zombie apocalypse types, there are no major scenes of blood and gore. It's a romantic comedy about the end of all life as we know it. Possibly unrealistic in places, but, hey, it's a movie, remember? Great date night movie.

One of the worst movies I have seen. Really really bad.
For the life of me I cannot understand how those two good actors have agreed to play in this film. Save your self a few hours and go watch something else.

I enjoyed this chick flick more than I was expecting to. Keira Knightley (whom I wouldn't refuse as an apocalyptic companion, or anything, for that matter) laid the melodrama on a trifle thick, and the pairing of she and Carell was unthinkable realistically, but the writer/director touched on several tender and sensitive issues that hit home for me (the details of which the bibliocommons community needn't be bored with). Steve Carell is just a likeable everyman/schmuck no matter how bad the material. It's gotta be that blank smirky expression. I found "Friendsy's" amusing. (Creepy, but amusing). And The Hollies' chestnut: "The Air That I Breathe" was just spot-on. Mesmerizing.
