One can enjoy this book, number 2 in the Dark Legacy series, without having read book 1. This novel has psychic investigators who use dreamscapes, crystals, and their psychic powers to solve murders. I couldn't get involved with the main characters. I couldn't understand the science behind the crystals which Krentz elaborates on fully. I thought the main plot dragged on with few clues given about who the murderer might be until the end and then these murderers are such oblique suspects that it just isn't believable. Rather than having the novel stop when these murderers are revealed, Krentz then continues her story with details about how Judson solved his mystery murder that occurred previously in the Caribbean. The ending is a happy one with a wedding in the family and a new family business is being set up. Not much in this story to encourage one to read book 3 or even book 1.
