Add a CommentI knew nothing about the movie. I was surprised to find out at the end that it is based on a crazy true story. It is a dark-comedy. Nothing really to laugh at, but very amusing. I am not a jack Black fan, but he did an excellent job. The townspeople are a hoot. If you like this movie you may like The Informant.
Sometimes I like Jack Black. This was one of those times. An entertaining, and well acted, look at a true life crime story. Humorous moments, especially the "interviews" with the townspeople of Carthage, TX. Black plays the part of the murderous Bernie to a tee. I didn't know the story, so I found it interesting as well as entertaining.
boring
This is not a 20/20 expose, just a fanciful retelling of the Marjorie Nugent's murder. You won't find any additional information on the case here. I do wonder if the town people of Carthage, featured in the film, ad libbed or were scripted and it was nice to see Shirley McLaine up and about.
A somewhat enjoyable pseudo-documentary.
I couldn't wait to see this movie after watching Jack Black give an interview, but I thought it fell short in its delivery. I understood the feeling and look the movie was going for but I didn't really enjoy it. The story was interesting though. Give it a chance...
A very intriguing story. A docu-drama with a dark-comedy feel.
Really enjoyed this movie. I am not a Jack Black fan but thought he and the other actors were spot on as was the script! Not very often that I think this.
This one was a bit off the wall. Black was a very likeable character with decent singing chops. Filmed more as a docu-drama. Still, entertaining to watch.
I LIKE TRUE STORIES. DID NOT KNOW JACK BLACK HAD SUCH A GOOD SINGING VOICE. GOOD MOVIE. DID NOT KNOW A FUNERAL DIRECTOR COULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN.
