This film reminded me of something by Studio Ghibli - a strong girl, strange but kind beings, entertaining for kids and adults.

Lush backgrounds make this children's eco-tale tolerable for adults. The capitalist father seems a bit over the top (i.e. unbelieveably insensitive to his kids), but he does find redemption. Ferngully is a much more varied and entertaining eco-fable if you are in the mood for one.
