Julie Lawson came to our school today at Heath Elementary, Delta. She had a chat with me and was telling me how her writing career began. This book was sooo interesting! It won first place in the Chocolate Lily Book Awards! Our librarian founded the club. Woo-hoo!

I like ghosts of the titanic so much! I think it is a really good book because it is like I was on the adventure with them. I recamend this book to people that haven't read this book yet!

2nd student:

I like ghosts of the titanic ssoooooooooooooooooo much but it is sad Annie and her son Michel died on the titanic. But I recamend this book to alot of people.

There are two main characters in this book, 12 year old Kevin Messenger who lives in present day Victoria and Angus Seaton who is 17 in 1912 at the time of the sinking of the Titanic. Angus works on one of the Halifax boats that go out to recover the bodies of the Titanic victims. As the book opens, Kevin’s father has just inherited a beach house near Halifax from the son of Angus Seaton a total stranger to the family. Odd as it seems, Kevin is determined to find out the connection between Angus Seaton and his father a century later. When Kevin’s family spends the summer in Nova Scotia, he is able to slowly piece together some information connecting his father to the sinking of the Titanic. A wooden box boarded into a hole in the basement wall, a friend’s grandmother who knew the original owner of the beach house and a ghost all help Kevin solve the mystery. There are interesting facts about the sinking of the Titanic which will appeal to readers. A good read.

This book was great! It gave me goosebumps while reading it. My favourite character is well... Kevin. He's really brave and the ghost was driving him insane. If I saw a ghost, I'd run away! Tell someone even if they thought I was a weirdo! Also, the part where he went back in time to meet Annie and Michael, that was EPIC INTENSE. I love this book, it's not as scary as it looks.

The front covour really interests me because of the Titanic and the dark sky.

this i liked BUT the begining was creepy

“Where’s Michael? What have you done with my boy?”
“Where’s Michael? What has become of my precious boy? Has his body been taken by the sea? Does he walk on land, looking for me?”
Night after night, the piteous voice of a mysterious ghost awakens Kevin with the heart-breaking questions about a boy named Michael. But who was Michael? Where was he lost, and when?
Who is the ghost, and what terrible tragedy does it refer to?
Kevin, a seventh-grade student, has always been interested in the history of the Titanic but he has never envisioned traveling back in time to the watery grave of the ship – or meeting any of its ghostly inhabitants face to face.
Kevin’s story is skilfully blended with that of 17-year-old Angus, a young seaman who, in the days following the tragedy, is helping to dredge the bodies of Titanic victims out of the ocean.
Julie Lawson has written a tale that captivates and mesmerizes its readers. She is the author of a number of books which focus on various key historical events from across Canada, making our country’s history come to vivid life - such as The Klondike Cat, Destination Gold, The Ghost of Avalanche Mountain, and No Safe Harbour: The Halifax Explosion Diary of Charlotte Blackburn.

This is a very good book :)

I love the Titanic I whant to go on it and see the grand staircase!

This was a great book! I love it because I can relate to it, by how I would usually see ghosts.I started seeing ghost at the age of 4.This relates to the book because Kevin saw one and got him crazy! This book was so good that I couldn't let go!

When Kevin and his family move into the old house in Halifax, which his parents have recently inherited, he is haunted by a woman’s ghostly voice asking for help. When Kevin tries to answer the call, he suddenly finds himself in another era … in the flooded hallway of a huge ship … the Titanic!
