Add a CommentI really didn't enjoy this as much as I had hoped. The character focus shifts every chapter made it difficult to get into the book.
If I hadn’t known what it was about I would have sworn it was a new Blue Blood novel. Cruz needs to find something more to write about. Even characters from Blue Blood was there. It was just another spin off novel that didn’t even compare to the original. And it barely was a spin off. Specifically in the summary, which I didn’t type this part, it said there would be appearances from people from Blue Blood. Only three chapters had those said characters. And it was only two characters. I wasn’t impressed by this whatsoever. I want her to branch out and try something more than keep going back to her old characters that help her. Not something I like from an author. To me it shows that she’s unoriginal and can’t change. Freya, Ingrid, and Joanna felt very static and flat. I didn’t even get to know or like them very much. I didn’t find any battles in it. They were pretty much fallen gods, like fallen angels from Blue Bloods. In short I was disappointed greatly with this book and I do not plan to read the rest of the series because of how unoriginal it was.
I had very high expectations for this book because of the authour, but about two-thirds of the way through, I put it down. The plot seemed to drag on and not keep moving forward, and the writing was too slow for me.
Really enjoyed this book. The story, even if a bit implausible, is fresh and entertaining.
I just couldn't get into the author's writing style and by the end of the book the emence details just bored me.
Definately worth the read. I would definately read the Blue Blood series before reading this. I think the tie in were great. Definately another good book by De la Cruz.
This is my first Melissa de la Cruz book and I liked it although I felt that since I have not read the Blue Bloods series I was lost whith so many characters and mythology.
Once again de la Cruz has created a fascinating paranormal world- full of special powers, past lives, deceit, romance and ties to Norse Mythology. Witches of East End has a lot of the same elements as de la Cruz's young adult Blue Blood series, but with older characters and more hot and heavy romance.
Started a little slow for me, but definitely picked up. Looking forward to the next one. Between now and then I need to read the Blue Blood books, there are references to its characters. This isn't something I would consider YA though, not sure where it falls, but there is definitely some language and sexuality.
