Summary
Add a SummaryGwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

Add a CommentI really enjoyed this book, even if it isn't the type of thing I usually go for. The narrator is very unique, and not nearly as annoying as the recent lot of YA female narrators we've seen. She doesn't have a low self esteem, she's sassy and tries her best but in the end decides she doesn't care about others judgements and I saw a lot of myself in her. The pacing of the book is quite unusual, but I didn't realize it in the end and decided that I loved how the first book only covered about a week in time. It's unique and it's fun, with just the right about of adventure and suspense.
a very interesting book. i liked the idea of timetravelling not by choice. she is a very talented author. her second book is good too and am eagerly waiting for them to translate and bring her third book here (shes german)
Overall, I enjoyed this book, since historical romance and time travel are two of my favorite types of books. A colorful, engaging novel, with an intriguing variety of characters. However, I must admit I was cringing at the predictability of certain parts, and at times I got a bit lost and confused by the "mysteries" of the secret society. Looking forward to the next two books, to see how it all ends.
I absolutly LOVED this book. The way Gier described all the time periods in the past made it actually seem like you were right there with Gwyenth. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a fantasy book or a movie like The Time Travelers Wife.
