This could have been a much better film with a different soundtrack. The monotony of the one-note piano is distracting and creates the wrong atmosphere for depicting an altered state. Imagine this film with a more evocative, dream-like score and sound design. Not great perhaps, but much more accessible.

TERRIBLE! I did not realize the F-word could be used as a verb, noun, adverb etc... Why was this movie even made?? It wasn't too long after this was made that Cruise and Kidman seperated was it? DO NOT WATCH! You have been warned.

One of my favorite movies of all time, if not my absolute favorite! If you are looking for a simple plot and lots of action, this isn't your movie. If you want a psychological thriller, this movie is for you.

The sets, the music, the lighting, and the actors themselves all made this movie have a unique "mood" the entire way throughout.

Good analysis "Xaipe", appropriately named "comment", this feature of our library system, because it's incomprehensible to me how someone can review material by fast-fowarding through it.

If you like phylosophical movies, then that's one of those. The underlyling theme is problem of fidelity between spouses. It's a slow paced film and can be quite boring for someone looking for action.

I saw the unexpurgated version of this movie without the hypocritical digital figleafs which would probably have driven Kubrick to an even earlier grave. The film has a nightmarish quality as the Tom Cruise character wanders through an erotic, pseudo-pornographic Disneyland as a curiously passive observer. For me, the whole point of the film was to illustrate the deadness and joylessness of pornography. Our media is saturated with all aspects of sex presented as just another commodity in our profoundly commodified culture. The negative responses of other library members to this movie illustrates the essential boredom and moral hypocrisy of the revels portrayed on the screen.

This movie was such a disappointment , boring , unwatchable and just plain terrible and horrible more like horrendous so wish I never watched it. Don't believe the hype there is no sex of any sort and the plot is just plain stupid. No idea what the entertainment industry was going on and on about. It doesn't even deserve a star.
