Interesting to see how the Swedes do horror flicks. Glad it was english dubbed.
Vamp girl feeds on locals except a boy she befriends and, utlimately, protects.

Nice take on the vampire genre, tender story, but manages to fit in the blood, violence and a bit of gore. The kids are great. Recommended.

My own personal experiences with bullying have been varied and incredibly mild relative to today's incarnation but this film wraps it up in a chilling environment that almost seems plausible. I'm not a fan of vampire or horror movies, but this is good stuff indeed.

Fan of foreign movies, and open minded to budget and new actors but this movies just did not do it for me....
the only scene that stands out is the cat scene, other than that not worth the watch. Vampire film lovers watch
"We are the Night" its foreign and by far the best modern vampire movie i have ever seen.

Interesting concept. A hunter befriends a human who is being bullied. When her current caretaker dies, it is evident she has let the right one into her life, who eventually will move into her life. It is surreal to see an early 80s setting for this. The dialogue in the subtitles is slightly better than in the dubbed version. The bullying is fairly constant, but I don't understand why this is rated R. The blood, relatively speaking, is minimal, as is the swearing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's foundation is really basically a poignant story of two painfully lonely kids who find real, genuine friendship in each other. The vampire stuff, to me, is simply an added secondary twist from the writer. The actors (Eli and Oskar) were terrific. Beautifully directed -- not slow whatsoever, as some have commented. Forget the cheezy English over-dubbing; watch it as it was intended, in Swedish (w/subtitles). The cat scene was hilarious. Good flick (better than the 2010 American remake, "Let Me In".) FIVE STARS.

I don't know why so many people like this movie. I found it far too slow-paced and not to my liking. I also did not like either Oskar or Eli. The acting and special effects were ridiculous. Plus the English voice dubbing was atrocious!

My favourite foreign film. A love story, a horror, a buddy flick, a parable about bullying ... all that and more. Recommended.

Fantastic vampire movie set in Sweden. Involves a 12 yr old boy bullied by 3 other older boys and his friendship with a girl his age and her secret. Good and creepy and you'll never guess the ending! WOW!

Harrowing stuff and, much in spite of the adolescent leads, not suitable for younger audiences at all. If you haven't seen this film and you would like a "realistic" view of the gruesome measures, both physical and emotional, a real vampire would need get by in a modern society add this one to your winter time watch list.
