I started to read this book and was enjoying it so much I had to stop and start over by reading it out loud to my two teenage sons. We enjoyed it very much! There is a lot of "pirate" language throughout, but the author includes a glossary in the back to help young readers. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach about the parts of a ship and pirate life. I enjoyed how everything was kept clean and non-violent since Pirates can tend to go the other way. This book made pirates into a cheerful bunch. One pirate even sleeps with a teddy bear. The illustrations are very colorful and busy. Which means the book can be looked at over and over and new things will be seen each time.
Would I recommend this book? YES! I think all ages could enjoy this book.
