Over the protests of her husband, Rose flees with their child, Sharon, to the town of Silent Hill. There, Rose is hoping that Sharon's traces can be explained. It is revealed that the town had been evacuated thirty years earlier due to an unstoppable, still burning underground coal fire. A local motorcycle cop ends up pursuing Rose and Sharon into the outskirts of the abandoned and cordoned off town on a rainy night, where they both suffer simultaneous crashes and black out. Rose awakens to find that everything is lit by an unearthly, luminous mist and that her daughter is gone from her SUV. Following what she thinks is her daughter's silhouette all over town, Rose is lured to a group of horrific creatures and blacks out again to the sound of a wailing emergency siren.

Sound and Very well done DVD sci-fi movie. I would recommend this movie for all to see. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.
Can't wait for the next 'Silent Hill' movie to hit the theaters.
I've never played the video game, so I can't compare it to that. However, after just seeing the movie as just a movie, as opposed to an adaptation, I loved it. Truly creepy and it gets under your skin. The cinematography is great and the creatures are reminiscent of a Guillermo del Toro film.
I enjoy reading magazines such as Sound&Vision,HomeTheater, and The Absolute Sound. In one of the magazines this film was reviewed. The one thing that stood out in the review was "good sound effects" bad movie. So one day while standing on line in Duane Reade i saw this movie on sale for $5.00. ATTENTION HOMETHEATER OWNERS WHO LOVE SOUND!!! Treat yourself to some very scary, very cool sounds in this fillm. This movie may be a little silly, which is what my lady friend said, but when it comes to sound and creatures this movie ROCKS!!!... I like the way many creatures in this movie looked. And the sound was impressive. My friend jumped on one scene when the character Rose, who's running after her daughter in this weird town, goes down these flight of stairs. You'll hear the sound of this crazy alarm that has a serious bass sound and then it turns dark. That's when all the scary creatures appear. Totally cool!!! Your speakers will make you feel like you are there. With all kinds of scary sounds coming from your surrounds speakers. We didn't like the ending but the creatures scared my friend. This one creature carrying a very large knife known as "The RED PYRAMID" was OFF THE HOOK!!! He is my favorite scary character. I give this movie 4 and half stars. For off the hook creatures, great sound effects, good visuals, and a decent story and not a very good ending. Pastrami on whole wheat bread, with pickles,Gulden mustard, olives, a few slices of roast beef, and large crinkle cut fries. Root beer.
too long a kind of drag
Due to a prior comment, I was expecting for a halfway decent movie. Not! I found this to be boring- the only reason I continued to watch was that I was trying to be open-minded and give it a chance- and then it was over. What a waste of time.
