This is an outstanding war movie. Graphic and realistic in its violence and depiction of the MOUT (Military Operations on Urban Terrain) warfare that occurred in Somalia. Nonstop. Gripping and entertaining. You almost can't believe it is a true story. You will never forget this film.

The performances are not remarkable but it is action packed. There is a good plot concerning the U.S' failure in Mogadishu in 1993.

This might be the most realistic and best directed war movie I have come across yet. Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott do a fabulous job.

This movie perfectly exemplifies the incompetency of the UN and the US administration that, in this specific case, sent its soldiers to battle underequipped. The UN cowardly (as a rule!) denied them help from their cute baby-blue helmeted "peace keepers." Still, these brave soldiers prevailed. From the movie: "300,000 civilians die of starvation. Mohamed Farrah Aidid, the most powerful of the warlords, rules the capital Mogadishu. He seizes international food shipments at the ports. Hunger is his weapon." 20,000 brave U.S. Marines were sent there and made sure food was safely delivered to the starving population. A must see: it is History! (So, I guess facts may have different versions and points of view, but there is always the truth.)

It's been often said that this film is tough to watch. To me, war is hell and what better way to see and feel hell is by playing this movie on your HOMETHEATER!!! Although this is not my favorite war movie, i still enjoy watching this film i consider a classic for it's amazing mission against the odds, and the audio presentation. There are some scenes that are "sound freak" worthy and will have your neighbors thinking you have a war going on in your home. This movie is filled with machine guns, explosions, and helicopters filling your speakers with the sounds of hell. I'm giving this movie 4 and half stars. Very good sound effects, great story, good cast, beautiful theme song, and an unflinching view of war. White Castle cheese burgers, two fish fillets, onion rings, fries and a large ginger ale. Keep the bathroom door open.

I have not the slightest doubt that this is a Great War Movie. ... However, that being said,.. I can't help but think that in a future African-made version of this movie ,.. its going to look like a re-telling of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, with the Americans portrayed as the Redcoats ?!? ,...sometimes the viewpoint depends on who's writing the "history".

Tedious film with no story or characterization and dull visuals, in addition to being insulting and jingoistic. It's hard to tell the difference between the film and the video game that was based on it.

"My love, stay strong and you will do well in life. I love you and my children deeply. Today and tomorrow let each day grow and grow. Keep smiling and never give up even when things get you down. So in closing my love, tonight tuck my children in bed warmly. Tell them I love them, then hug them for me and give them both a kiss goodnight for daddy." Shughart
