Excellent film, one of my all-time favorites. Each actor in his or her own magnificence, all presenting marvels of insight into their particular characters. Nowadays younger people have no contact with the draft, but it was all-pervasive in my generation. This film is in thorough touch with that reality and presents it so well, that it was for me in 1977 an emotional rescue. Every scene is real to me, even to this day. The moments of lightness have a bittersweet quality made sweet and lovely in Christopher Walken's dancing with Meryl Streep. A favorite movie to this day. It's too bad Michael Cimino hasn't made another movie, but he doesn't need to.

Great performances. Interesting story though a bit predicable. Biggest negative is movie is very slow. Three hours of slow drama.

seen this movie many time and still hit me like a deer in the headlight. Very strong and provocitive statement for anyone involved in the south asian conflict. No glorification in this movie

This is one of the all time best movies. The final scene with DeNiro and Walken is riveting and will stay with you long after the movie ends. It is a gripping and realistic portral of post traumatic stress syndrome and war. I love this movie because it doesn't glorify war in anyway.

A heartwretching tale about the horrors of war. It's power still stands today, especially with all the other wars which followed this one and all the wars still occurring today.

I was a young teen when this Restricted movie came out and couldn't watch it. I never did get around to seeing it, even though I've watched hundreds of great films since. Just picked it up recently and wow.....I was moved. Each actor brought his A game to the screen, but the real star was the plot. Powerful story.......and it wasn't diminished by the years.

One of Robert DeNiro's best performances, and a personal favourite film - despite the edgy frenetic violence and mahem in it! Loved Meryl Streep's work in it too!
