I'm not usually into 'noir',.. but this film seems exceptional. Lee Marvin had both cast and script approval, and turned those powers over to fledgling director John Boorman. The resulting creative control gave birth to an innovative template for future Relentless Chase scripts. Film students and fans will find rich nourishment in the Commentary by John Boorman and Steven Soderbergh.

One of the best crime movies ever made. This is considered one of the first 'art house' crime films and a true modern noir. Even more difficult because it was filmed in color. It was the first movie that made me fall in love with movies. Marvin's best film. He was probably drunk but he was the rare cat that could act while he was drunk.
