Never in million years did I think I'd be 'rooting for' Nazi sailors in a WWII movie... This film showed the stuff this crew was made of. Blood, sweat, guts, and heart. (And bratwurst and sauerkraut.) An incredibly humanizing war epic that decriminalized the "monsters" and lent a different perspective on The Great War for this viewer. FIVE STARS.

Have to agree this is the best war movie (2) ever done. Saving Private Ryan is good until they get off the beach, but this is far and away the best and something every young man needs to watch once. I watch it every 2-3 years as a reminder...

Sympathetic treatment of a German submarine crew in WWII. A movie that finally shows the humanity of German servicemen.
