This simple story of Duckie experiencing her colorful world is great to share with babies through kindergarten. The big pay-off is when you reach the end of the short story and the pages form a beautiful rainbow hence the books unusual shape. It provides an introduction to colors and could be used with a rain or rainbow theme as well as a adventure walk theme. I also use it to talk about increasing a child's vocabulary through reading aloud picture books as it uses two less common words for the color purple, neither of which is the word "purple".
